Poor Toms Gin Hall,
a gin distillery situated in Marrickville's industrial back-streets, is a
trendy city hideaway, and the perfect spot for drinks with friends this
weekend.
Serving as an oasis from the noise of the suburb's industrial bustle, Poor Toms is the perfect spot for those who love to explore the nooks and crannies of their city. Located amongst a group of warehouses, Poor Toms' unassuming exterior is juxtaposed by its marble-clad, lush interior. Décor consists of tall marble-top bar tables, soft mood lighting, and greenery in the form of lush plants hanging from the ceiling. Concrete flooring and an exposed ceiling pay homage to the gin hall's warehouse predecessors, and make for an urban, grungy feel. Poor Toms is one of the newest additions to Marrickville's craft beer and liquor precinct, serving as a hidden oasis which marries luxe with edge to form its own unique character.
Opened to the
public in 2018, Poor Toms serves up house-made options to satisfy all
gin-lovers. Its four
signature offerings, 'Sydney Dry Gin', 'Strawberry Gin', 'Fools Strength
Gin' and 'Imbroglio' can be purchased from a stylish 'Take Away' display,
located in the centre of the gin hall. For those seeking an instant fix, Poor
Toms' signature drink list offers the likes of a 'Strawberry Gin G&T',
featuring Poor Toms' Strawberry Gin, accompanied by tonic and lemon; and an
'Imbroglio Spritz', which is part Imbroglio, part natural sparkling wine, and
part soda. For those wanting to try something different, Poor Toms offers
a changing weekly cocktail list, incorporating its signature gins in to unique
offerings, such as a Dragonfruit & Passionfruit Fizz with an egg-white
foam.
To satisfy the
foodies out there, the gin hall serves woodfired pizza every Friday and
Saturday evening from nearby restaurant Pizza Madre. The perfect accompaniment to
a few G&Ts, these authentic Italian-style pizzas cannot be missed. Place
your order and have your pizzas delivered right to your table every 30
minutes.
As the evening
sets in at Poor Toms, the crowd builds. Laughter and conversation fill the
small space, creating a buzz which permeates throughout the entire hall.
Friendly faces are seen chatting around the bar, whilst groups of friends
congregate around tables, gin in hand. A warm and welcoming atmosphere entices
you to mingle well in to the night, whilst the impressive drinks list will make
you want to stay and try everything on offer. So gather some friends and pay
Poor Toms Gin Hall a visit this weekend to see what all the fuss is about!
